How Can Your Child Stay Ahead in the Age of AI?

How can we prepare our children for a future where AI can perform many intellectual tasks faster and more accurately than humans?

Recently, it was reported that an AI system achieved a perfect score in an international mathematics Olympiad. Whether or not AI eventually surpasses human experts in every field, one thing is already clear—AI is becoming remarkably capable of solving complex mathematical problems.

This raises an important question for parents:

How can we prepare our children for a future where AI can perform many intellectual tasks faster and more accurately than humans?

The answer is not to compete with AI.

Instead, we need to help our children develop the qualities that make us uniquely human.

AI can process enormous amounts of information, recognise patterns and generate solutions. But it does not experience curiosity, joy, purpose or the satisfaction of overcoming a challenge. It has no dreams, no personal aspirations and no lived experiences.

Our children do.

A child who learns with curiosity does more than memorise formulas. They ask questions, make connections between ideas and discover the satisfaction of solving problems through understanding. These experiences build confidence, resilience and independent thinking—qualities that will remain valuable regardless of how technology evolves.

As parents, we do not have to wait for schools or policymakers to decide how education should change. We can start today by nurturing habits that will help our children thrive in an AI-powered world.

Instead of asking:

"How can my child beat AI?"

Ask:

"How can my child learn to think, create and grow with AI?"

At AL1 Project Centre, we believe mathematics is not about memorising methods. It is about developing deep conceptual understanding, critical thinking and the confidence to solve unfamiliar problems.

AI will continue to become more powerful.

But the future will belong to those who know how to use AI wisely while bringing the uniquely hu.
